Smoloskyp, is an independent, non-profit human rights and publishing organization based in Kyiv. It was founded in the United States in 1968, and during the Soviet period published numerous dissidents' works in Ukrainian and English, materials on the dissident movement, information on the Ukrainian Helsinki Group, and a monthly human rights newspaper "Smolokyp".

In 1992, Smoloskyp moved its base of activities to Ukraine, and since that time has placed a high priority on working with young people (scholars, aspiring writers, journalists, political science students). As a human rights organization, Smoloskyp has participated in numerous international conferences and worked closely with Amnesty International and the Organization On Security And Cooperation in Europe.

As a publishing house, Smoloskyp has published a Ukrainian-language edition of Diane Ravitch's "The Democracy Reader", as well as a collection of articles, in "Democracy In Ukraine: Past and Present."

In 1995 Smoloskyp was incorporated in Ukraine as a non-profit international foundation.

To broaden and strengthen the democratic process in Ukraine, Smoloskyp has conducted over 70 workshops, seminars, and conferences since July 1995, in different cities throughout Ukraine, with a total attendance of several thousand young people. It publishes and disseminates the "Smoloskyp Ukrainy" information bulletin, the "Molodol Natsiya" (Young Nation) journal, and the reference book "ABC's Of Ukrainian Politicians."

With the contributions of Ukrainians living in the USA and Canada, Smoloskyp has also published over 100 books by young aspiring authors, and started the publication of a series of anthologies on contemporary political ideologies ("Conservatism", "Nationalism", "Liberalism", "Social Democracy"). In 1999, Smoloskyp was able to establish in Kyiv a Samizdat Archive, Library and Museum.

Smoloskyp, Inc. has also established a website, www.Smoloskyp.Kiev.ua which provides additional information about the organization, their work and many publications.
