NEW YORK.........On January 16 Transatlantic Partners Against AIDS hosted an exclusive meeting of mass media representatives from Russia, Ukraine and the United States.

Harnessing the momentum of the special UN meeting on "HIV/AIDS and the Media" hosted by Secretary General Kofi Annan on January 15th, the TPAA meeting participants focused on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Russia and Ukraine, and discussed concrete strategies and approaches for media to engage in and facilitate a national response to the epidemic in the region.

The gathering served to build networks between Russian and Ukrainian media and their counterparts in the U.S., with the hope of encouraging collaboration and sharing of experience in developing comprehensive, cross-platform media campaigns, related to HIV/AIDS prevention and the reduction of stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS.
