...Kyiv. August 4. UNIAN. On August 3, a solemn ceremony of laying a corner stone in the foundation of the future monument to Taras Shevchenko took place in Warsaw. The monument to Shevchenko will be installed in the center of the Polish capital, in a public garden bearing its name.
The monument has been created by Ukrainian sculptor Kushch. as a gift of Kyiv to Warsaw, it will be carried to the Polish capital in the near future. UNIAN has been told at the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry that President of the Republic of Poland Aleksander Kwasniewski sent his greeting to participants of the solemn ceremony.
The greeting of the Polish President says about sincere satisfaction with the fact of beginning of work on installation of the monument to Taras Shevchenko. In opinion of Kwasniewski, this monument has to become a symbol of friendship and mutual understanding between two friendly nations.
