KYIV, Ukraine (AP) - Ukraine's top forward Andriy Shevchenko has opened an
Armani fashion boutique in the capital Kiev, and insisted that he has no
intention of giving up his soccer career.
"I am not a model. I like a soccer player's career much more," Shevchenko
said Wednesday at the opening of his two-story Armani Collezioni shop, which
is the first in Ukraine and the 11th in the world.
Giorgio Armani, the founder of the Armani brand-name, attended the ceremony,
praising Shevchenko for a "sense of fashion."
Shevchenko, the top striker for Milan, said he will "try to make prices
reasonable for everybody" but added that his business policy is focused on
the future, when he hopes people's wealth will increase in this former
Soviet republic.
