A major portrait photograph exhibition entitled,
"Ukraine: Face of the 20th Century" opened in Kyiv at the Ukrainian
House on November 15, 2000. The exhibition was opened by former Ukraine
President Leonid Kravchouk, one of the Ukrainians featured in the
photo exhibition. Sergiy Cherednichnenko, photographer, and Volodymyr
Zakrevskiy, journalist, combined talents to create the photo exhibition
and exhibition catalog which contains stories about each of those
photographed. Over 100 black and white portrait photographs were taken
between June, 1999, and November of 2000, featuring Ukrainians involved
in many different spheres of human activity who have been active in
creating the history of the new independent Ukraine. |
"Ukraine:
Face of the 20th Century was designed to make those who view the
photographs feel the history of Ukraine for the past 9 years since
it became a sovereign state. The Ukraine Association, Intellect
of Nations, sponsored the photo project. The entire collection of
photographs has been published in a outstanding photograph gallery
on the new Ukrainian portal, www.ukrop.com .
