SVITLANA NOVHORODSKA-KUCHERENKO
Svitlana Novhorodska-Kucherenko was born in 1963 in the city of Dushanbe in
Tadzhikistan.
She studied at the Dnipropetrovsk Art School from 1979 to 1983. Her works are
directed at the embodiment of the spirit of beauty and song of the Ukrainian people in
rhythmic richly static compositions.
Her paintings caress the eye with their lyricality and warmth; they instill nostalgia
for the Ukrainian past-both actual and imagined-so masterfully exalted by writers
and artists of the 19-th century.
The artist draws her inspiration from the eternal springs of the people's creative
work.
She has participated in art exhibits throughout Ukraine as well as beyond its
borders. Her works are hanging in the collections of those who esteem Ukrainian
culture in America, Canada, Germany, and Japan.
