KATERINA KORNIYCHUK
Katerina Korniychuk was born in 1960 in the city of Kyiv, Ukraine. Katerina
completed her postgraduate studies at the Academy of Arts, in Kyiv in 1988.
Katerina works in color etchings, lithography, monotype, and acrylics. While
many of her early color etchings evocatively capture scenes of village life, only recent
years have seen her renewing her graphics.
In fact it is no longer graphics, as it is a kind of graphic-painting margin overlap, which is
a continuation of artistic ideas of A. Matisse and P. Picasso.
She describes her current monotypes as her "neomodern period" with considerable
attention given to color and form. The artist's emotions and her expressive energy
are corrected by an exact logic of composition and by her precise drawing, which helps her
feelings be better rendered.
Her work is included in museum collections in Ukraine and private collections
in the United States, Canada, France, and Finland.
