The Ukrainian Children's Choir from Odessa will perform at the Seoul Arts
Center in southern Seoul at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 10. Odessa, a harbor city on
the Black Sea, is the cultural center of the Ukraine where the Kiev Ballet
also originated.
Established in 1981 with children between 10 and 18 years old, the choir has
been very popular throughout the former Soviet Union and in Eastern Europe.
In 1997, the choir was invited to sing before the Pope in the Vatican.
The choir's Seoul program includes various Ukrainian folk songs, Orthodox
Church chants, Christmas carols and classical masterpieces such as
Schubert's ``Serenade,'' Mozart's ``Ave Verum'' and Vivaldi's ``Gloria.''
