This "Famine.1922" artwork was found by the www.ArtUkraine.com
Information Service in the book "Ukrainian Avant-Garde Art, 1910-
1930," published in Kyiv, Ukraine in 1996. The illustration is number
359 in the book and is in the section of the book entitled, Surrealism
& Expressive Realism. This artwork is held in a private collection in
Moscow, Russia.
There are two additional works by Ivan Ivanov shown in the book:
"Warrior.1922," Indian ink on paper, private collection, Moscow,
Russia, illustration number 360 and "City.1919," pencil on paper,
illustration number 361, private collection, Moscow, Russia.
The book was compiled and introduced by Professor Dmytro
Horbvachov, a leading Ukrainian art critic who has devoted many
years of research to Ukrainian Avant-garde art.
The book contains 400 reproductions of the finest works of Ukrainian
Avant-garde artists which can be found now in museums and private
collections of many countries.
The artist Ivan Ivanov is not listed in the Encyclopedia of Ukraine,
Edited by Volodymyr Kubijovyc, University of Toronto Press,
