INVITATION
We invite you to the "Memorial Evening For Ukrainian Famine
Victims" to be held Friday evening, November 24th, 2000, at
the Kyiv City Teachers House, 57 Volodymyrska str., Kyiv, Ukraine,
at 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
There will be a program consisting of memorial tributes, music,
and poetry, in honor of the Ukrainian victims of famines: 1922-1923,
1932-1933, and the late 1940's.
The new "Ukrainian Great Famine Art Exhibition" will also be
on display at the Kyiv City Teachers House. The Exhibition consists
of over 100 Ukrainian artist paintings, posters, graphics, photographs,
sculptures, and other works of art in honor of the victims of
the Great Ukraine Famine of 1932-1933. Items are from the private
collection of www.ArtUkraine.com, E. Morgan Williams and other
private collections.

Ukrainian theatrical actress Halyna Yablonska
reading a Ukrainian poem in memory of those who died in The
Great Famine. The large painting in the background called "Famine
of 33" is by famous Ukrainian artist Victor Zaretsky and was
painted between 1987 and 1989 just before the artists death.
It is the only painting done by Mr. Zaretsky about the famine.

"Ukrainian Great Famine Art Exhibition" which is being organized

the Great Soviet-Ukraine Famine/Genocide of 1932-1933. The Exhibition
is still in the process of collecting art items for the final
worldwide traveling exhibition which begins in 2002. A "Ukrainian

Vasyl Perevalskyi, Ukrainian graphics
artist, who is now Deputy Director of the National Artist
Union in Kyiv. Vasyl drew the graphics for the official design
for the Great Famine Memorial Events which were held in Ukraine
during 1993 in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the
Great Soviet Ukraine Famine-Genocide . Mr. Perevalskyi is
standing in front of his original art work and a poster created
using his design from 1993.
The design later was made
into a Great Famine Monument which is located in Mykhaylivska
Square near the St. Michael Monastery Complex in Kyiv. The
design was also used on a official stamp in Ukraine.
