KYIV. A Day of Remembrance for the victims of the Holodomor will be observed annually on the fourth Saturday of November, according to a presidential order.

According to historians, 10-25% of the population died in the Great Famine caused by the policies of the USSR in 1932-1933. Ukraine lost about 24,000 people a day, a thousand an hour, or over 17 people a minute.

In March 2002, the president signed an order to commemorate the Famine victims of 1932-1933 and to give state support to people who experienced the horror.
