"Kievoblenergo is one of the largest energy
distribution companies of Ukraine. It is also made up of two
small hydro power plants (generators) that annually produce
1.8MW of electricity (though less than one percent of sales).
It is the largest supplier of electric power (93% in 1999)
in the Kyiv region, which has a population of approximately
5 million people and highly developed industries of more than
355 larges and medium enterprises."
"The company is ranked seventh in the size
of its electric grid (47,830 km of lines) and tenth by energy
delivery volume among all 27 Ukrainian power-supplying companies."
"The company has the following structure of
customers: industry--23.76%, non-industrial consumers--16.18%,
households--20.9%, agriculture--10.79%, transport- 7.9%, and
others--21.08%. Though industry is usually considered the
more attractive type of client, because they pay the highest
price, higher non-payment rates in Ukraine render them slightly
less attractive. Therefore, the company relies on non-industrial
consumers as its main source of revenue. Its payment collection
rate is often higher than 90%, making it one of the most attractive
distributors in the country."
