AGCO CORPORATION IN UKRAINE
A Strong Commitment To The Ukrainian Market
Pioneering In Creative Agricultural Equipment Financing

AGCO Ukraine

AGCO Corporation, headquartered in Duluth, Georgia, USA, is a global designer, manufacturer and distributor of agricultural equipment and related replacement parts. AGCO products are distributed in 140 countries. AGCO offers a full product line including tractors, combines, hay tools, sprayers, forage equipment and implements through more than 7,750 independent dealers and distributors around the world. AGCO's products are distributed under the brand names AGCOÒ Allis, AGCOSTARÒ, FarmhandÒ, FENDTÔ, GLEANERÒ, GlencoeÒ, HesstonÒ, Massey FergusonÒ, New IdeaÒ, TyeÒ,

Spra-CoupeÒ, WhiteÒ and WillmarÒ. AGCO provides retail financing through its AGCO Finance in North America and through its Agricredit in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain and Brazil. In 2000 AGCO had sales of $2.3 billion.

AGCO has been operating in Ukraine since 1996, when a representative office was opened, and today has a central office near Kyiv with 20 fully trained sales, service and training staff. Together with 5 dealer companies operating in the main agricultural

regions of Ukraine, AGCO Ukraine maintains a service network for about 500 units of high capacity farm machines (large tractors and grain combines). Substantial spare parts stocks are maintained in country by these dealers, and in addition to this, any part not immediately available from stock can be flown in and be with the customer usually within three working days of ordering.

While AGCO Ukraine in the past pioneered sale of equipment on credit direct to Ukrainian agricultural enterprises, the experience of the 1998 rouble crisis and the influence of political risks on such contracts have

engendered a more cautious approach. However, AGCO is always ready to look at finance risk sharing with Ukrainian retail clients on a case-by-case basis. It is hoped that 2001 will see the adoption of leasing legislation that will encourage foreign investment into the crucially important financing of farm equipment. This would potentially allow AGCO to partake in the development of finance partnerships such as it operates in Europe and the Americas.

Much work has gone into developing products suited to demanding Ukrainian conditions, and the current

MF8200 series tractors, MF7200 series combines, Fendt tractors, and AGCO and MF implement and hay & forage product lines reflect this effort. These machines will be on display for the first time in Ukraine at the "AGRO 2001" exhibition in Chubinske, near Boryspil, 29th May - 4th June.

Ukrainian farms, pushed for cash, are always looking for ways to make the most of every penny they invest in their businesses. With the website www.mftrader.com, AGCO has begun developing contacts between MF dealers in Western Europe and potential buyers of used combines. AGCO Ukraine has already sold a number of these machines to Ukrainian users. The website is multilingual, including Russian, and potential buyers can search for machines that meet their specification requirements, and check out details of usage, condition, indicative pricing etc. AGCO Ukraine's approach is to be as flexible as possible to meet the client's needs.

If a client is happy to arrange payment and collection from Western Europe, AGCO simply puts him in contact with the dealer and lets the customer do his own deal. At the other end of the spectrum, AGCO Ukraine can supply the equipment delivered, all duties paid, direct to the customer for hryvnya payment. The customer always has the confidence that AGCO can and will provide service support for any of its machines in Ukraine.

In conjunction with the National Agrarian University, AGCO Ukraine has been conducting field trials and demonstrating precision farming techniques for two years on a number of Ukrainian farms. AGCO's precision farming system "Fieldstar" allows farms to create yield maps of their field crops, which in turn can be used to help apply crop inputs at varying rates across the field in accordance with the needs of the crop and the soil. This has proven economic and environmental benefits, already known to farmers in Western Europe for over ten years.

AGCO's MF combines have had the possibility of real yield-mapping for over a decade thanks to MF's pioneering work in this field. In Ukrainian conditions, this system also allows owners of large fleets of combines tighter control of the operation of their fleets. Furthermore, the Datavision computer system, installed as standard equipment on all combines, and an integral part of Fieldstar, can now be fitted with telemetry equipment allowing remote monitoring of all combine functions and operating parameters.
