Kyiv Region is famous for its ancient folk art and traditional culture. High artistic traditions of such glorious archaeological cultures as Trypillian, Zarubyntsi, Chrnyahiv, Chornolis, culture of Kyivan Rus and others were passed from ancestors through centuries, preserving authentic forms and contents, acquiring new styles and motives.
Present day has approved succession of centuries-old cultural heritage by contemporary spheres of artistic culture: woorcarving and metal processing, root-weaving and wooden spoon-making, embroidery and weaving, pysankarstvo, pottery and blacksmithing.
This edition prepared by the editorial team of Folk Art Magazine (Narodne Mystetstvo) presents members of the Kyiv branch of the Folk Art Union, who are full of energy and dedication to follow their ancestors artistic traditions, to preserve and develop the cultural heritage of Ukraine.
