KYIV..............Nadra bank and USAID signed an agreement
through the five-year Development Credit Authority program
for giving loans to farmers and suppliers of material and technical
resources for ag production. The agreement was signed for U.S.
$6 mn. The US government guaranteed compensation of 50%
of the risks for the loans.
Nadra Chair Ihor Hylenko said the bank would be able to
give 720 loans to farmers nationwide. He added the maximum
loan could not exceed US $60,000.
U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Carlos Pascual said the agree-
ment signified Ukraine had undergone basic changes. He added
farmers had become entrepreneurs and the banking sector
realized small enterprises were the moving force of the economy.
