No. 362
May 13, 2003
To the President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma

Highly Respected Leonid Danylovych!

I address you asking to intervene in deciding L.P. Kozachenko's fate.

With sadness I learned from the mass-media that he is still kept in the pre-trial detention center of the GPO of Ukraine.

L. Kozachenko known as Ukraine's faithful son, professional, public activist and a Maecenas, has managed to achieve a lot for the development of the country's economy and the rebirth of Ukrainian Orthodoxy.

Considering this, I ask you to support the members of parliament of Ukraine, asking to bail L. Kozachenko out, so that he can utilize his right for public explanation and defense of his position.

Respected Leonid Danylovych!

We ask you, in accordance with a thousand-years old tradition of Ukrainian Orthodoxy, to show mercy on these Easter days.

With deep respect,

Father Mytrofan
Bishop of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky
The Vicar of Kyiv Domain
In Charge of Affairs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

NOTE: The Office of General Prosecutor arrested former Vice Prime Minister for Agriculture L.
