Ukrainian News, Laryssa Huk, 10/02/2002

The Chumak Company (Kherson region), which produces vegetable oil under the Chumak trademark, plans in 2002/2003 marketing year to keep the volume of processing of sunflower seeds at the level of 2001/2002, which is 77,000 tons.

The company's manager for public communications, Oksana Zotova, disclosed this to Ukrainian News.

"For the period of 2002/2003, Chumak plans to process sunflower not less than for 2001/2002," Zotova said.

Chumak is one of the largest producers of refined, sweet sunflower-seed oil.

Chumak changed its partner with respect to supply of sunflower seeds this year, concluding instead a contract with the company Zernotorgovaya and abandoning partnership work with the German company Toepfer.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, based on the ratings of the most profitable companies by TOP-100, which is being published by Investgazata, in 2001, Chumak made net profits of UAH 8,760 million.

The Swedish company South Food, jointly with several Kherson factories founded the Chumak enterprise in 1996, and in 2000, the factories of this company integrated into the closed joint-stock company Chumak.

Chumak also produces ketchups, sauces, tomato juice, mayonnaise and canned vegetables.
